Abstract

This talk will highlight some aspects of the 802.11 standards and eco-systems and its interaction with the 3GPP cellular standards and ecosystems.

The talk will focus manly on 11ax (HE) < 6 ghz standard under approval and 11ad 60 ghz standard which was approved in 2014.  we will touch upon core advancements promised by 11ax. likewise, we will survey 11ad technology and its current (though unintended) application in outdoor mesh networks.

The need for better performance modeling and analytics to understand and improve network performance will also be touched on.
